Since joining Central Counties Tourism in August 2018, Tom has been harnessing the power of data to grow the visitor economy and help stakeholders succeed. As Research & Development Manager, he analyzes visitation trends and uses data to tell compelling stories that shape strategy and support stakeholders. With over 20 years of experience in the tourism industry and a Master’s Degree in Tourism Management from Royal Roads University in Victoria, BC, Tom brings both expertise and passion to his role—always striving to make Central Counties the ‘Destination of Choice’ for visitors.

When it comes to local favorites, Tom has too many to name—picking just one would risk banishment from the others! Outside of work, he’s not just a self-proclaimed data nerd—he’s also an avid surfer, woodworker, former ski racer and instructor, and is currently building a cabin on his property in Nova Scotia.

Tom chose tourism because, in his words, it’s “the best industry in the world.” He loves how tourism brings together a system of industries that depend on one another to create unforgettable visitor experiences. For Tom, the excitement of promoting an entire region and enhancing the traveler’s journey makes working in destination marketing truly rewarding.
