Lisa John-Mackenzie joined Central Counties Tourism in December 2022 as Industry Relations Manager for Durham Region. In this role, Lisa works closely with the people and businesses that make Durham such a vibrant place to visit—listening, learning, and supporting in whatever ways she can. Whether it’s connecting stakeholders to key partners, providing marketing or training opportunities, or guiding them through funding applications, Lisa is always happy to lend a hand and help amplify the region’s tourism offerings.

With a career rooted in working alongside small businesses and organizations, Lisa brings a creative and collaborative approach to stakeholder relations. While she hasn’t been a small business owner herself, she’s passionate about diving into her own experience to uncover useful insights and ideas that can help others grow.

A lover of local road trips, Lisa finds joy in discovering the unique stops and hidden gems along routes like A Country Path, the Leaskdale Loop, and the Sideroads of Scugog—where creativity and character are always in abundance. Outside of work, you’ll find her in the kitchen baking (and taste-testing), or planning themed parties complete with homemade cakes. For Lisa, working in tourism was an easy choice—it blends her love of food, travel, and connecting with people into one rewarding career.
