E.D. Corner: October 2020

Good Day,

I just spent the last two days at the virtual 2020 Ontario Tourism Summit.  While I greatly missed seeing peers face-to-face, networking, laughing and collaborating, the conference brought great ideas, research and success stories to the forefront.  I was reminded that there is always something to learn and a different way to look at things.

There is hope.  There is support for our industry.  And there is you, someone who is working to ensure there are places to visit and experiences to be had when we come out the other end of this thing.  Central Counties is part of the support and if this year has taught us anything it’s that ours is a symbiotic relationship.  Our support systems are only as good as the information we get from you.  Learning about your changing audiences, product offerings, communications channels, etc., lets us provide relevant timely tools for you to use.

To this end, I implore you to spend a few minutes completing our B2B Website & Learning Survey.  Information from the survey will guide the plan for our website upgrades, a new learning portal that is being created and the delivery of our educational modules.  These programs are designed to help you continue to develop and grow the success of your business. Your insights will help ensure that we deliver the tools and content that are the most relevant to you.

Moving forward, we want our stakeholders to be true partners, which includes engaging in learning new things and providing us with insights that allow us to be more successful in our efforts to support the businesses of tourism.  That’s why it is so important to provide your input on how you would like the programs to be delivered.

Central Counties’ new learning portal will be interactive and customized to our stakeholders’ learning preferences and skills. As we develop the delivery platform and courses, based on your survey feedback, we also are developing new modules that will be released in the coming months: Strategic Writing for Your Business, iPhone Photography 101, and Writing Successful Grants & Funding Proposals.

I know that many of you are surveyed out and I can appreciate that.  So, as an added incentive, we are going to provide one lucky stakeholder a free one-day photo and video shoot at their location.  Having great photo and video content is something that helps both the stakeholder and CCT tell your story.

For those of you that have taken advantage of the PPE Reimbursement Project (which is still available, and I encourage you to apply!), you know that in order to be eligible we asked you to do a few things that will ultimately help you succeed in your business.

That’s it for this month.  Halloween is this weekend and, although it may be a little different than other years, I hope that you make the best of it and have a great time!

Best regards,

Chuck
