E.D. Corner: May 2026

Good Day,

AVTR1 is officially ready to go!  It was not without its hiccups and setbacks, which is expected when developing a brand-new software platform, but we are finally in a place where you will be able to increase your visitor engagement by creating avatars to tell your stories. I would like to thank our stakeholders who acted as guinea pigs as we developed and worked the kinks out of the programming. Their feedback was instrumental in getting the software functioning in a way that can be both entertaining and educational.

For those that may not have heard of the program, AVTR1 is an augmented reality software through an app on your phone. Experiences are activated by scanning a QR Code. Your organization subscribes to the program, which gives you access to your own QR codes. And here is where it gets interesting. Unlike other augmented reality programs that are built by a developer and are static, AVTR1 allows you to develop the experience that activates for each code. And you can change the experience for the code as often as you would like.

The versatility of AVTR1 also seems to be a main source of hesitation when it comes to subscribing to the program. When I chat with people about the ways they could utilize their very own avatar tour guide, concierge, host, forest ranger, etc., they often see so many opportunities that they get overwhelmed with the possibilities. My suggestion to them, and to you, is to start simple.

The summer season is just around the corner. It is the perfect time to engage and entertain your guests. I am sure you have a story you want your guests to hear. All you need to do is break it into three short chapters (or tell three different stories related to a theme) and then determine where on the property you would like each story to come to life. You have now overcome the biggest hurdle – the actual content.  Once you have that, we will show you (through manuals and in-person training), how to create and implement the experiences.

I personally think that everyone should give it a try. A three QR Code subscription is only $999/year. If you can’t think how it could fit into your organization’s offerings, give me a call and we can bat it around. We have also brought Mohammed Ejner onboard as our new AVTR1 Sales Specialist. Mohammed started in early May and is quickly becoming an expert in the technology. You may be hearing from him soon as he starts his outreach calls. But my suggestion is don’t wait for him to call you. Shoot him an email at mejner@centralcounties.ca to begin bringing your content to life.

AVTR1 was built because of feedback we were hearing from stakeholders about the price barrier to implement virtual and augmented experiences which were static and had a shelf life only as long as the content was relevant. With this technology, you have the power to create and change your content as often as you would like, providing new reasons for your guests to return. And, of course, we will make sure to be promoting the locations that have implemented the technology.

Have a great day!
