Central Counties Launches Free Learning Lab Course to Support Route Development

Courtice, ON (July 31, 2025) – Central Counties Tourism (CCT) is pleased to announce the launch of its newest Learning Lab course: Tourism Route Development. This self-paced, online module is designed to help tourism businesses and operators work together to build engaging experiences that enhance the visitor journey, increase regional visitation, and support economic growth. Best of all, it is available for free to tourism stakeholders across Ontario.

The course provides practical strategies and tools for creating collaborative tourism routes, from themed trails to multi-stop itineraries, that are visitor-focused, locally grounded, and aligned with broader destination goals. It also draws inspiration from real-world examples across York, Durham, and Headwaters.

“Strong tourism experiences are often the result of strong partnerships,” said Chuck Thibeault, Executive Director at Central Counties Tourism. “This new module helps businesses connect the dots, identifying shared strengths, creating visitor-friendly itineraries, and working together to attract and retain visitors. It’s about taking what already makes our regions special and packaging it in a way that inspires exploration.”

The Tourism Route Development course joins a suite of industry-focused offerings available through CCT’s Learning Lab, a self-paced virtual platform designed to help tourism professionals build skills, access best practices, and grow their business. Other modules include:

This new module is ideal for attractions, tourism operators, municipalities, and destination marketers who want to create multi-stop itineraries, themed trails, or route-based campaigns. It’s especially valuable for businesses looking to collaborate with others in their area to offer visitors a richer, more connected experience.

“Addiev Corporate Training is honoured to have collaborated with CCT on the Tourism Route Development,” said Ashley Muldoon, Director of Training Operations at Addiev Corporate Training. “This unique resource for tourism operators is practical, inspiring, and rooted in the real opportunities that exist within all of our communities. It doesn’t just teach route development; it sparks new ways of thinking about partnership and place. Whether you’re in the region or beyond, this course offers valuable insights for building stronger, more connected visitor experiences, and strengthening the communities in which we live and work. Addiev is proud to have played a part in bringing this incredible idea to life and looks forward to continuing our partnership in education with Central Counties Tourism.”
