Tourism in Central Counties is an increasingly significant contributor to economic growth. Our communities are turning to tourism as an opportunity for economic diversification and job creation. The retention of businesses and services in many communities throughout the region depends more and more upon visitor spending.

The Central Counties Community Tourism Planning Guide has been prepared to help community leaders direct and focus tourism planning capabilities at the community level. Central Counties Tourism believes this process will be a catalyst for community residents and leaders who are interested in exploring opportunities available to their communities through tourism.

For information on starting a Community Tourism Plan in your area using the Central Counties workbook tool, please contact your regional field manager.

For regions outside of the Central Counties/RTO6 region interested in using the Community Tourism Planning kit, please contact king@centralcounties.ca for more information.

Tourism Wayfinding Planning

Tourism directional wayfinding signage drives visitation and economic impact by pointing people to the areas a municipality wants people to see, explore and experience and connecting existing visitors to discover more.  A properly developed and executed Tourism Wayfinding Plan has a positive effect on the community, both financially and its reputation as being welcoming to visitors and locals alike.  Is your Municipality ready?  Read more here.
